Peaky Blinders Star Finn Cole Reveals Why to Watch Last Breath: ‘It’s nothing short of a miracle’
JustWatch spoke to acclaimed British actor Finn Cole on his
latest film Last Breath, a gripping true survival story that will
leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
Last Breath is a harrowing and exciting thriller
that follows the true story of a commercial diver trapped at the bottom of the
North Sea. With only five minutes of oxygen remaining, but with no chance of
rescue for more than 30 minutes, this intense experience chronicles the
extraordinary rescue mission that defied all odds. The film is based on the
2019 documentary of the same name.
Cole plays Chris Lemons, the protagonist diver trapped and
forced to fight for his life. The Kingston-born actor is best known for his
breakout role as Michael Gray in the hit BBC crime drama Peaky Blinders (2014–2022).
In the show created by Steven Knight, Cole portrayed the ambitious and
calculating cousin of the Shelby family and starred alongside Cillian Murphy
and the late Helen McCrory.
Cole has also starred as Joshua “J” Cody in the critically
acclaimed TNT series Animal Kingdom (2016–2022). His movie
credits include Dreamland (2019) alongside Margot
Robbie, Here Are the Young Men (2020), and the ninth movie in
the Fast and Furious franchise, F9: The Fast Saga (2021).
In an interview with JustWatch, the global web page that
tracks the top streaming movies and TV shows, Cole expressed his enthusiasm for
partaking in the project:
“Even before getting the script for Last Breath,”
Cole explained, “I had seen the documentary and it blew my mind.
“Then I read the script—it was so beautifully paced and told
the story so well. The film is an edge-of-your-seat true survival rescue story
that has a great optimistic ending and shows how you can do anything if you
persevere.
“It [Last Breath] is loaded with well-rounded
characters, and it really is a true story—it’s nothing short of a miracle. It’s
the kind of story you can’t miss.”
Finn Cole stars alongside Hollywood heavyweight, Woody
Harrelson, known for acclaimed movies like No Country For Old Men and
the acclaimed first season of anthological series True Detective,
and rising-super-star Simu Liu, known for Marvel’s Shang Chi and
the global juggernaut, Barbie. The film was theatrically released
in the United States on 28 February 2025 and is now being shown across cinemas
in the United Kingdom having been released on 14 March.
